Abstract
Lesions of the gastrointestinal tract are usually diagnosed by means of endoscopy and barium studies. Ultrasound is generally not considered useful in gastrointestinal diagnostics because of its inability to penetrate gas. However, as already described in 1976, by pressing the transducer firmly against the abdomen intestinal gas will be displaced and tumors may be disclosed.
