Part of the book series: Palaeontologia Cathayana ((PALAEONTOLOGIA,volume 5))

Abstract

The present paper deals with palynological dating of the Baikouquan Formation in Karamay region, northwestern Junggar Basin, Xinjiang. The spores and pollen include 29 genera and 50 species, of which 5 species are new. The palynological assemblage is closely similar to that from the Upper Jijicao Formation of southern Junggar Basin. The evidence of palynology tends to support the Permian age (Lower Permian to Lower Upper Permian) for the Upper Jijicao Formation as well as the Baikouquan Formation.
