Abstract

A flexible manufacturing system incorporating off-line programming has been developed for colliery roadway supports. A new bending machine and control system lies at the heart of the system. The controller was developed using the latest computer-aided design techniques to embody robotic control design principles. This paper describes the principle of operation, the control system and the results so far achieved.
