Abstract
The gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which has many different types of hormones and peptides, is the largest endocrine organ of the body. GI hormones and peptides are present in both endocrine cells and nerves and act as endocrines, paracrines, and neurocrines in regulating digestion, absorption, motility, and growth of the GI tract.
