Zusammenfassung
Von Caton und Paul wurde bereits 1893 ein chirurgischer Zugang zur Sella turcica beschrieben. Über eine laterosubtemporale Craniotomie operierten sie einen Fall von Akromegalie. Horsley, von dem die Empfehlung zu diesem Vorgehen offenbar stammte, operierte zwischen 1904 und 1906 zehn Hypophysentumoren auf diesem Wege. 1909 hat Krause erfolgreich die transfrontale Craniotomie als Zugangsweg zur Sella benutzt.
