Zusammenfassung
Der „Internationale Ständige Verband für Schiffahrtskongresse“1 mit Sitz in Brüssel beschäftigt sich schon seit langem mit den technischen, nautischen und betrieblichen Fragen, die der Übergang zu immer größeren Schiffsabmessungen insbesondere fair Hafen- und Wasserstraßenverwaltungen ausgelöst hat. Wertvolle Grundlagenarbeit leisteten in den Jahren 1962 bis 1973 die beiden Internationalen Öltankerkommissionen dieses Verbandes [1]. Zur Fortführung dieser Arbeit wurde 1974 mit erweitertem Auftrag eine neue Studienkommission gebildet, die “International Commission for the reception of large ships” (ICORELS). Sie bekam den Auftrag, nicht nur Tanker und Massengutfrachter, sondern auch große LNG-Tanker sowie große Container-und Leichter-schiffe mit in ihre Untersuchungen einzubeziehen.
