Zusammenfassung

Epidemiologische Studien zeigen, daß posttraumatische Belastungsstörungen (“posttraumatic stress disorder”, abgekürzt PTSD) zu einem ernsten Problem unserer Gesellschaft geworden sind. Betrachten wir die Zahl der Personen, die sexuellen oder nichtsexuellen Angriffen, Naturkatastrophen, Arbeits- und Autounfällen oder Kriegsereignissen ausgesetzt waren, dann treten bei diesen Personen traumatische Reaktionen extrem häufig auf.
