Abstract

Measurements of the dielectric constant resulting from optical properties were performed by Axe, Pettit [1]. For the difference between the static dielectric constant ε0 and the one at frequencies well above those to which the lattice cannot respond but below all characteristic electronic excitations n2 they give:

$${\varepsilon _0} - {n^2} = 17.7$$
