Abstract
A high-power fast-flow closed-cycle CO2 laser facility designed for investigations of material processing technologies is described. Some experimental results concerning the discharge and laser performance are given. The work reported has been done at the Polish Academy of Sciences1 of the Gdansk Institute of Fluid-Flow Machines within the frames of a research program sponsored by the Ship Design and Research Centre in Gdansk. The facility was built based on cooperation with the PROMOR Shipbuilding Technology Centre and the Gdansk Shipyard, and an agreement on scientific cooperation with the Institute of Quantum Electronics in Warsaw.
