Development of Amorphous-Silicon Single-Junction Solar Cells and Their Application Systems

Worldwide consciousness of the global environmental issues creates rapidly growing demands for solar photovoltaic systems. Sharp has increased the production capacity of solar cells and modules by about 90-fold in the last eight years. To date, the products are mainly bulk-type crystalline-Si solar cells, but to meet the rapid growth of the market it is essentially important to establish new technologies based on the concept of reduced use of material silicon.
