Zusammenfassung

Die Surfactantbehandlung des Atemnotsyndroms Frühgeborener stellt einen Meilenstein in der Entwicklung der neonatalen Intensivmedizin dar.Avery und Mead beschrieben 1959 erstmals den Zusammenhang zwischen einem Surfactantmangel und der Entstehung des Atemnotsyndroms Frühgeborener.21 Jahre später berichteten Fujiwara und Mitarbeiter über die erste erfolgreiche Surfactantbehandlung des Atemnotsyndroms Frühgeborener mit einem natürlichen Rinderpräparat.Seit dieser Zeit wurden weltweit mehr als 10.000 Frühgeborene mit verschiedensten Surfactantpräparationen in kontrollierten und/oder randomisierten klinischen Studien behandelt.
