Zusammenfassung
Die Prozesse, die zur Abhängigkeit von Arzneimitteln und Drogen führen, sind äußerst komplex und bisher, trotz intensiver Bemühungen, erst zu einem geringen Teil aufgeklärt. Diese Prozesse lassen sich, grob gesehen, in 2 Gruppen unterteilen, nämlich einerseits solche, die zu Gewöhnung und körperlicher Abhängigkeit führen und teilweise auch auf zellulärer Ebene untersucht werden können, und andererseits solche, die zu psychischer Abhängigkeit führen und auf der komplexen Ebene des Verhaltens untersucht werden müssen. Je nach der Art der Substanz können nach wiederholter bis chronischer Verabreichung entweder Prozesse der 1. oder der 2. Gruppe dominieren, jedoch scheinen Phänomene beider Gruppen auch gemeinsam aufzutreten und in vielfältiger Weise miteinander zu agieren.
