Zusammenfassung
Kaum etwas erscheint in der Vorstellung schlimmer als unerträgliche Schmerzen. Hätte man die Möglichkeit, sich ein einziges Medikament auf eine einsame Insel mitzunehmen, wäre Ketamin hier sicherlich für viele- und dies zu Recht — Mittel der Wahl. Die Substanz wirkt stark analgetisch bei weitgehend erhaltenen Reflexen und ohne den Nebeneffekt einer relevanten Atemdepression über einen weiten Dosisbereich. Erst bei Gabe in höherer Dosierung nimmt die sedierende Komponente zu bis hin zur tiefen Narkose.
