Abstract

For industrial robots and automatic production, computer vision has been used for inspection and shape recognition. Applications for trajectography have also been reported. Not much work has been done on using a TV system as a position sensor to control, in the usual way of feedback control, the movement of a mechanism in a closed-loop position system. This paper gives an approach to this problem. Using an experimental apparatus, the static measurements have been studied, it is concluded that automatic calibrating is required. The dynamic characteristics of the measurement are experimentally studied and a theoretical model is given. Use of a TV-measuring system in closed-loop position control is then analysed and described.
