Zusammenfassung
Entspannungsverfahren sind die weitaus am häufigsten verwendeten und wohl auch wichtigsten und wirksamsten Techniken der psychologischen Schmerzbehandlung. Entspannungstechniken werden als eigenständige Behandlungsverfahren eingesetzt, kommen meist aber mit anderen Techniken wie Biofeedback, Imagination, Gymnastik, Atemübungen und speziellen Copingtechniken zur Anwendung. Auch stellen sie einen grundlegenden Baustein in kognitiven Behandlungsverfahren dar und haben einen hohen Stellenwert in operanten Behandlungsprogrammen, wie sie in amerikanischen Schmerzkliniken angewandt werden.
