Abstract
Nuclear waste is not only a by-product of industrial and experimental operations — a by-product that science and technology take care of in a way that has never been even attempted for other human activities. Nuclear wastes, in particular those requiring a geological repository, are also materials the disposal of which often requires the application of a new concept of democracy.
