Zusammenfassung
Nach oraler Einnahme wird Isosorbiddinitrat (ISDN) durch den First-pass-Metabolismus weitgehend abgebaut. Bei dieser Art der Anwendung tauchen weniger als 3% der unveränderten Substanz im Blut auf. Die beiden Mononitrat-Metaboliten sind jedoch aktiv und tragen somit vermutlich in großem Maße zu den nach oral gegebenem ISDN beobachteten Wirkungen bei.
