Abstract

Although the wave phenomena we discuss in this chapter are mathematically interesting in their own right, they have been observed experimentally with Belousov-Zhabotinskii reactions by Marek and Svobodová (1975): the experimental results are the motivation for the analysis here. We first present the mathematical analysis, which follows that given by Neu (1979a), and then describe the experiments which we relate directly to the key analytical result.
