Abstract

I want to tell, principally, about the early years’ accomplishments of Paul Dirac - he was less famous in those years, and you may know less about them. The picture I’ll present may also convey his very modest and considerate personality. As you probably know, he was born in England — in Bristol in 1902, just a few months before I was born in Hungary. He had a brother, older than himself, and a sister, younger than he was. But he hardly ever mentioned his family — he believed others were not truly interested in them. He did learn French from his father, who was a teacher of that language, but he did not like to use it. He had profound admiration for few people, not even for his father.
