Abstract

This chapter deals with safety concepts and techniques for slope stability analysis. Stability of a civil engineering structure is generally defined in deterministic terms through a factor of safety (FS) value, which is obtained through one of the methods for stability analysis. As there are several methods, its choice is important and will be discussed within this chapter.
