Abstract

In shallow-water propagation any ray (except a direct one in the case of a homogeneous medium) undergoes one or more reflections from the bottom. At relatively long ranges the sound field is mainly due to the multiple reflections of the rays from the bottom. The theory of sound propagation in shallow water will be presented below, assuming constant water depth.
