Zusammenfassung

Auf dem Bereich der Kryoanalgesie zur postoperativen Schmerzbehandlung gibt es bisher noch keine großen Erfahrungen, obwohl angeblich bereits Hippokrates über die Kälte als Analgesieprinzip berichtet hat. In jüngerer Zeit, v. a. ab 1975, wurde die Methode in Großbritannien weiterentwickelt und mit Erfolg angewandt [1, 5, 12]. Es folgten in rascher Folge Berichte auch aus anderen Ländern, die die Hoffnung bekräftigten, die man in dieses aus der physikalischen Therapie bereits gut bekannte Prinzip setzte.
