Zusammenfassung

Die Handwurzel (Carpus) ist eine in den 3 Ebenen des Raumes äußerst bewegliche Artikulation; sie kann aber das Vielfache des Gewichts eines Menschen schadlos ertragen. Ihre Architektur, die auf 8 Knochen (Abb. I.1) und einem besonderen Bänderknoten beruht, ist sehr komplex; sie sichert die Stabilität unter allen Umständen. Wenn ein einziges Element nachgibt, sei es knöchern oder ligamentär, wird die Artikulation instabil und schmerzhaft. Zunehmende Deformation und Arthrose treten auf.
