Otorhinological Bone Diseases

Abstract

This chapter describes pinhole bone scintigraphic features of some commonly occurring diseases of the paranasal sinuses, nasal cavity, nasopharynx, and mastoid. The discussion is limited to the diseases whose diagnosis can be made or suggested by bone scintigraphy aided with the pinhole technic. These include inflammation, granulomatous disease, carcinomas, fibrous dysplasia, and Paget’s disease. Of these the last two conditions have already been presented under the individual titles, and trauma is excluded since obviously it is one of the primary objectives of radiography and CT.
