Abstract
Bone scintigraphy has traditionally been considered to be nonspecific and less reliable than radiography in the diagnosis of metabolic bone diseases. However, aided with the pinhole technique this test can often display some characteristic features in osteomalacia and systemic osteoporosis caused by seniscense and menopause. Needless to say, it is a highly sensitive and convenient means of detecting the pseudofractures or fractures in osteomalacia and osteoporosis. In addition, the whole-body scan is ideal for the delineation of the systemic changes of osteomalacia, rickets, and renal osteodystrophy on a single view display.
