Abstract
To obtain a first tentative impression of amphibian diversity patterns in Bolivia, distributional data of 166 known species was compiled and linked to eco-geographical zones. These findings confirm that the general worldwide tendency for species richness to decrease as latitude and/or altitude increase also occurs in large parts of Bolivia in regard to amphibians. The perhumid Yungas play a special role, harbouring a remarkable variety of species for its size, including almost all endemic taxa.
