Zusammenfassung
Die Wirksamkeit der traditionell verwendeten, typischen Neuroleptika muss häufig mit schweren Nebenwirkungen erkauft werden. Neuere Präparate, die sogenannten atypischen Neuroleptika, sind nebenwirkungsarm und sicher in der Anwendung — und außerdem ebenso stark antipsychotisch wirksam. Therapeutische Hoffnung ruht vor allem auf dem derzeit noch unter Studienbedingungen eingesetzten, intramuskulär applizierbaren Olanzapin.
