Full Two-Photon Correlator

Abstract

In the start-stop regime, only those pairs consisting of consecutively emitted photons are counted. However, the probability of a photon being emitted by an excited atom approaches zero on the time scale of the fluorescence lifetime T 1. Therefore the start-stop correlator approaches zero on this short time scale and it cannot be used to study the slow relaxation existing in molecular systems.
