Abstract
The involvement of the right ventricle in ischemic heart disease has long been ignored by cardiologists. The assessment of right ventricular size and function is made difficult by the retrosternal position, complex geometry and heavy trabeculation of the right ventricle, which also partially overlaps with the silhouettes of the left ventricle. Modern imaging techniques and technical improvement of echocardiographic imaging facilitate a systematic evaluation of the right ventricle.
