From Atoms to Single Biomolecules Through Bose—Einstein Condensates: Un Saluto da Firenze per Theodor

  • Chapter
Laser Physics at the Limits

Abstract

The contribution of Theodore Hansen to scientific progress in the field of the interaction between light and matter has been impressive, continuous and ubiquitous during the last 35 years. The oldest of us still remember the world impact of the first saturation and two-photon spectroscopy results which were only the beginning of a long series of inventions. We have now the privilege of benefiting from a stimulating interaction with a Theodor “fiorentino”. Discussions have produced the birth and death of many ideas, but they have also reinforced the image of a scientist, curious and ready to enthusiastically follow new adventures.
