Abstract
As anticipated in the Introduction, the experimental signatures of diffraction consist in particular kinematic configurations of the final states. In the remainder of the book we shall also see that some of the theoretical approaches to diffraction are based on the identification of the relevant kinematic regimes. Therefore, kinematics is by no means a secondary ingredient in diffractive physics, and so it requires a careful consideration.
