Abstract
The Mi’kmaq Nation is one of North America’s aboriginal peoples. The group is part of the north east culture area and speaks an Algonkian language. Our traditional territory covers most of Canada’s Maritime Provinces as well as parts of Newfoundland and the Gaspé Penninsula. It is from our eastern geography that we are known as ‘Keepers of the Eastern Door’.
