Abstract
During the last few years several cartographic developments for the Internet have been made. Most Web pages with cartographic content either consist of simple raster images or scanned maps. Only a few pages have entirely new technologies implemented. Most of these newer cartographic tools on the Web are self developed solutions from universities or other institutions. These solutions most often offer a tool to draw online maps or at least interactive maps with special functions. Such functions could be layers to be turned on and off, routing functions, or panning and zooming of vector maps. All online mapping tools are interactive and allow maps to be drawn, usually with several possibilities to influence the result.
