Abstract
Besides the development of international standard equations for the thermodynamic properties of water and steam IAPWS has also initiated and coordinated the development of equations for transport properties and for other properties. The latest IAPWS equations for the transport properties dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity are presented in Sects. 4.1 and 4.2 and the IAPWS equations for the properties surface tension, static dielectric constant, and refractive index are described in Sects. 4.3 to 4.5. Except for the surface tension, all these equations contain the density as one of their input variables. If these properties are to be calculated for given values of pressure and temperature, then the density must always be determined first. In such cases, the density value should be calculated from the industrial formulation IAPWS-IF97 [9] described in Chap. 3. This procedure was used to calculate the values of the transport properties and other properties given in the corresponding tables in Part C of this book.
