Abstract

These days pilots no longer have their first flying experience in the air, but on the ground in a flight simulator. This is cheaper for the air company, safer for the pilot, and better for the environment. Only after spending many hours in the simulator are pilots allowed to operate the control stick of a real airplane. Flight simulators must perform many different tasks to make the pilot forget that she is sitting in a simulator.
