Simulating Social Phenomena

Abstract

We applied social simulation methodology to compare the two main approach to the formation of coalitions among agents in a social market: the global approach, based on the Social Dependence Networks theory, and the local one, based on the Bounded Knowledge game-theoretical approach. An ANOVA experimental design analysed quantitatively the results of social simulations, and some emerging phenomena as “leadership”, “social equality” and “social stratification” are discussed.
