Abstract
Consider a spring of length L. One end of the spring, O, is fixed. The spring is stretched or compressed by an external force which is applied at the other end of the spring, A. Suppose the elongation of the spring, i.e., the dis-placement of point A, is u under the action of the external force f (Fig. 1).
