Staminate inflorescences spike-like thyrses; flowers in cymules of 1–3, cymules arranged in trimerous whorls along the inflorescence axis, each cymule subtended by a bract; perianth lacking; stamens 8–10; anthers tetrasporan-giate, basifixed, longitudinally deshiscent; abortive pistil rarely present. Pistillate flowers solitary, each flower subtended by a pair of bracteoles, perianth reduced to an inconspicuous rim; stamens absent; ovary inferior, bicarpellate, 4-locular, styles 2(−3), stigmatic throughout; ovule 1 per locule, hemitropous, crassinucellate.
