Abstract

In 1949 Maria Goeppert-Mayer [1] and Haxel, Jensen and Suess [2] suggested a shell model to explain magic numbers of stability for atomic nuclei. Recently, a similar model has been used to sucessfully describe another fermion system — the electrons in metallic clusters [3–18].
