Two Forms of Head-Shaking Tests in Vestibular Examination

From Neuron to Action

Abstract

Among the various vestibular function tests clinically utilized, there are two forms of the head-shaking test. In each of these tests, to-and-fro movements are applied to the head at a rate of about two movements per second, however, the content and purpose of the tests are entirely different from each other. Although both tests have been utilized for many years, they have not received much attention in the literature. Recently, however, interest in the utility of these tests has increased, and I feel that the value of these tests should again be recognized.
