Abstract

Molding of IF articles at high pressure (HP) is characterized by the following:

  1. 1.

Very rapid and complete filling of the mold cavity with the melt (another term for HP methods is “full-shot”, in contrast with “short-shot” for LP methods).

  2. 2.

Separation in time of the processes of skin formation and core foaming.

  3. 3.

Foaming due to the expanding volume of the mold cavity.

  4. 4.

Utilization of CBA’s better than PBA’s.
