Abstract
L-Isoleucine, 2(S),3(S)-2-amino-3-methylpentanoic acid, is an amino acid with a branched carbon chain comprising 6 C-atoms. Most secondary products derived from L-isoleucine still possess this characteristic carbon skeleton.
