Abstract
It is impossible to undertake a serious and productive discussion on rotating suspensions without relying on such phenomena and results as the Taylor-Proudman theorem and column, Ekman and Kármán “horizontal” boundary layers, Stewartson “vertical” shear layers and spin-up.
