Zusammenfassung

Die entzündlichen Erkrankungen der Prostata und ihrer Anhangsorgane stellen mit ihren zahlreichen Wechselwirkungen auf die der Drüse benachbarten Organe sowie mit den Fernwirkungen auf den Allgemeinorganismus ein medizinisches Problem ersten Ranges dar. Die Tatsache, daß diese Erkrankung mit ihrer so mannigfachen Erscheinungsform sehr häufig in einer ausgesprochen blanden Art verläuft, die oft die Ursache für ein Nichterkennen ist, erhöht die Problematik dieses ganzen Komplexes naturgemäß noch erheblich. Daraus ergeben sich auch die so häufig diskutierten Schwierigkeiten in der Begriffsbestimmung und auch in der Einteilung, die bei Entzündungen anderer Organe im allgemeinen nicht so problematisch ist, da bei den Entzündungen der Vorsteherdrüse nur ganz selten einmal dieses Organ als einziges erkrankt. Die unmittelbar anatomische und auch funktionelle Nachbarschaft sowohl zum Harnals auch zum Genitalapparat machen es verständlich, daß tTberschneidungen mit dem einen oder mit dem anderen Gebiet laufend vorkommen, und daß dadurch die Abgrenzung klarer isolierter Krankheitsbilder so außerordentlich schwierig ist.
