Zusammenfassung
In 1983, the French National Department of Health (FCDN) („Direction Générale de la Santé“) and the French National Institute of Health („Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale“) decided to set jointly a series of actions aimed to enhance the quality of surveillance and epidemiology of communicable diseases. We proposed to develop a French Communicable Disease Network („le Réseau National de Surveillance et de Communication des Maladies Transmissibles) based on the new technologies available in distributed informatics.
