Fusion of Electromagnetic Source Data and Tomographic Image Data

Summary

Interpretation of EEG (Electroencephalography) or MEG (Magnetoencephalography) derived three-dimensional source localizations is hampered by poor visualization. A method for combining electromagnetic source data with image data of the same patient is presented, facilitating the interpretation with respect to the patient’s anatomy. To ensure high precision this method makes use of external markers which can achieve subslice accuracy and can pinpoint reference points outside the scanned volume. Accurate fusion is thus provided even in standard imaging protocols employing thick slices and/or large interslice gaps. Results of the fusion are presented in 2D and 3D visualizations.
