Zusammenfassung
Die Darstellung der Plazenta im Ultraschallschnittbild ist allen anderen Verfahren (Doppler-Methode, röntgenologische Plazentographie oder Arteriographie, Thermographie, Szintigraphie) überlegen. Sie bietet unter einfachster Handhabung die topographische Beziehung zur Uteruswand und zur Cervix uteri. Die Sonographie der Plazenta kann damit als das Verfahren der Wahl zur Lokalisation der Plazenta (Ausschluß oder Nachweis einer Placenta praevia) und der Beurteilung einer vorzeitigen Lösung der normal sitzenden Plazenta bezeichnet werden. Die Beschreibung der Plazentalokalisation gehört zur Basisdiagnostik in der Schwangerschaft. Nach Entwicklung hochauflösender Ultraschallgeräte mit abgestufter Grauwertdarstellung ist es möglich geworden, eine Gewebedifferenzierung der Plazenta vorzunehmen.
