Abstract

After the previous development of a working concept of oilscapes and the considerations of Oilscape 1 of the previous chapter, in this chapter we turn to the media discussion with its Oilscape 2 and Oilscape 3 references. In this context, mass media exhibit a significant part in the creation of World 2 and World 3 and their relation to each other, because “[t]he mass media play a profoundly significant role in the appropriation and interpretation of the meanings of social reality. They have the capability to shape conceptions of our physical, economic, political and social environments”.
