Abstract

The present chapter is a literature review that focuses on the study of Islam and Muslims in Sweden in both the past and the present. The aim of the chapter is threefold. First, we provide a brief background to the history of Islam and Muslims in Sweden. Secondly, we give a bibliographical overview of existing research on Muslims in Sweden. Finally, we discuss some potential areas that should be studied in the future if we want to acquire a more informed understanding of Islam and Muslims in Sweden.
