Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag schlägt einleitend die Brücke zwischen altem und neuem Weltraumzeitalter. Er analysiert Kontinuitäten und Diskontinuitäten zwischen dem 20. und 21. Jahrhundert und benennt sieben Erfolgsfaktoren, mithilfe der sich die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika im strategischen Wettbewerb mit der Sowjetunion im Kalten Krieg durchsetzten. Ohne einen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit zu erheben, sind die Lektionen aus der Zeit des Kalten Krieges auch heute noch von großer Relevanz. Die Untersuchung versteht sich als eine historisch-politische Handlungsempfehlung, mit der Deutschland zukünftig seine Sicherheit wahrt, in Freiheit prosperiert und nicht zum Spielball fremder Interessen wird. Denn damals wie heute bedeutet die Vorherrschaft im All die Kontrolle über die Geschicke auf Erden.
